Hot Foodie gossip….

Simon Hill, Matthew Brooks and Chef Pablo Tordesillas are just back from a month in Spain on a fact finding mission I believe, for their new Tapas bar and fine dining Spanish restaurant replacing what was once the award wining Isis restaurant.
Rumor has it, it is going to be very special indeed with Donovan Hill behind the design, will keep you posted ……

Michael and Todd from Claret House Wine Bar are up to something, these boys are bound to come up with something new, fresh and fun, but for now my lips are sealed …Till the next edition of Village news that is…….

Les Amis opened its doors in May, Les Amis – French for “friends” (New Farm Village News has photos)

Located at Leighton Properties’ Green Square on St Paul’s Terrace in Fortitude Valley, opposite popular night spot, Limes Hotel. This casual yet smart French bistro is a dream realised for owner Joe Sittikarn.

Sittikarn worked his way up the ranks at Sydney’s five star Westin Hotel at Martin Place before moving to Brisbane to manage Emporium’s Belle Èpoque.

The Chef Ian Woodcock. awarded ‘Young Chef of the Year’ in 2000, honed his fine dining experience at the Michelin star, Atlantic Hotel in Jersey and I’m sure Les Amis is set to delight us all.

I will report back to you on this next issue…….

Little locals I love in brief ……

Mizu

I am guilty of always forgetting about this little treasure when it comes to meal times and fortunately friends remind me and book for us to go. I have dined here on numerous occasions and the food and service is always great with simple fresh Japanese at it’s best, lovely light main meals. Just pop in for lunch, I suggest the special bento box, this is great when you need a change from normal café fare. In the box there is a miso soup, a small salad, vegetable & prawn tempura, a little sashimi and a well cooked piece of swordfish or salmon and a bowl of rice.yummo and so healthy…

Karma

694 Brunswick Street
New Farm QLD 4005

Ph 3254 3555

When Karma first opened in New Farm we thought, here we go yet another Indian, but we were surprised as the interior, the ambience and more importantly the food seems to be the real deal and since then we have become regulars and dined there weekly, sometimes fortnightly and as yet the food and service has not disappointed us…..

Confit
Shop 4, 9 Doggett Street, Fortitude Valley, 4006

Ph: 3254 4001

With Chef Jason Peppler opening Confit in what was previously Tisane on Doggett Street, we are now blessed with great bistro food for Lunch and Dinner in the neighborhood , however not to be overlooked are the great Brekkies. Confit is also open for brunch on weekends. We dined on a Saturday and I must admit it was rather pleasant as the restaurant is carpeted and has upholstered seating and great fare on offer. Try the savoury mince or the sweetened vanilla bean risotto with poached rhubarb and vincotto or the corn cakes with bacon and tomato basil salsa. Service is fantastic and I must say it was nice to eat a well cooked breakfast and be able to have a conversation with my companions and actually hear them. ….

I love this time of year as the end of winter draws near

It’s time to get out of hibernation and walk down to your local….

Enjoy……..
